Is Dirty Air Enough?
Common people’s woes
The morning smog
Everything shrouded in dark
I can only write and bark
Days are darker than night
Nary much action in sight
TV debates heat up, tch, tch, people’s plight
Falling on deaf ears
We wade through polluted air
Everything smoke and mirrors, nothing clear
Someone proposed lockdown of city
Maybe politicians, our earthly gods will take pity
But they’re busy, some new hoopla, new meeting
Our job to pay taxes
Otherwise heavy fines and no relax
We get air to breathe, isn’t that enough, please no greed
Dirty air everywhere, clean air a luxury
For well-heeled, air-purifiers selling crazily
Common people pray to Almighty
I can write more and more
Who cares if my lines are sour
In a world of calamities, this is tiny, doesn’t score
This is a yearly phenomenon. Every year at the start of winter, stubble burning by farmers of neighbouring states, the enormous vehicular traffic here and the local mild to cold weather conditions create a perfect storm of almost unlivable conditions.
We common people can only pray for rains to occur and cleanse the air, while the politicians bicker and play musical chairs.
